QUESTION?
Why bother with Community?
ANSWER
Because Community Matters
I have just added a new page to this blog and it is called Community Matters. I hope you will head over there and take a look.
Why did I add it?
Well initially it was because I was nominated for a Blogging Award, the Super Sweet Blogging Award, and I wasn’t at all sure what to do or where to put it. I have visited lots of blogs and I have noticed that many of them have been nominated for all sorts of lovely awards and yes, I wondered what it was all about.
Well now I know, or at least I am beginning to know. If you want to know then definitely head over to Community Matters where Clanmother will explain all about it better than I can.
The point is that blogging is not just about posting our individual posts, it is not even just about our individual blogs, it is more about the connections that we make with each other.
Clanmother nominated me for the Super Sweet Blogging Award, and she is the recipient of many Awards herself.
Why?
Because she has an amazing blog and she is an enthusiastic proponent of Community. Read all about it at http://clanmother.com/2012/10/10/sweetness-sunshine/
I wrote “COMMUNITY” to remind myself that Community matters.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
- How do you feel about Community?
- How important is the WordPress Community to you?
- What can you share that might be of help to others?
POEM FOR TODAY
COMMUNITY
Let’s not bypass community as if it doesn’t count
Opt for splendid isolation where the I is paramount,
Where our neighbour is a nuisance and our friend’s high maintenance
And the giving of the self becomes undue extravagance.
For we’re multidimensional, we’ve many parts to play,
Tomorrow cast in company, a solo role today,
And our lives are richer textured if they’re shared with other souls,
It’s a win-win situation where we all achieve our goals.
And so let us remember that our world’s a better place
If the individual reserves at heart a little space,
Where the door is always open if another comes to call,
For community’s reciprocal, it benefits us all.

PICTURE FOR TODAY
Community
And for something really lovely to look at, here’s a beautiful photograph from Russel Ray. Russel is an interesting guy, and to me epitomizes what the WordPress Community is all about. Russel asks, “May I camp out in your blog?” and then goes on to say,
“I love to go camping. Unfortunately, I have not been camping in almost 20 years. My knees, ankles and friends won’t let me go camping. But no-one can stop me going camping on the Internet and that I do each day.”
That’s what community is all about.
And so here’s that beautiful sunset photograph from Russel.
Imperial Beach – the most southwesterly city in the continental US
Stunning, isn’t it?
And just before you go ……..
Take what you like and leave the rest!!!
I was really taken by Russel Ray’s site. The more I looked the more I found.
It goes without saying that Russel is an amazing photographer, but what is even more remarkable is that he goes out of his way to share some of his secrets with the rest of us. He seems a real Community-minded guy!
I am a fledgling photographer and I shall be a regular visitor at Russel’s Digital Photo Editing Suite to learn some of the tricks of his trade.
Here’s a taster. Ever wondered how to bring a photograph to life? Well according to Russel,
“It’s all in the eyes!”

Head over to Digital Photo Editing to learn how to do it.
And if you have read this far, please do leave me a comment, share an opinion, join in the conversation or share a favourite quote at the Inspirational Quotes page.
May we all be peaceful and at ease.
Have a good day.
Corinne

I am humbly honored.
I am so glad you liked the post, Russel. Thank you for your contribution.
So funny..when I was working at a large bank in Florida. I was in Human Resources. We called our group of people in that position the “Human Resources Community.” All other officers, presidents, bank managers, tellers, etc. didn’t refer to their peers as a community. One day the CEO of the local branch said “I want to be part of a community? Why don’t I have one?”
Community’s a lovely word isn’t it? It sort of denotes a coming together of equals. I guess that’s why some folk will never feel that they belong.
We are all a part of the blogging ‘community’ – a new, great, and humbling experience for me – thanks for allowing me to be part of yours!
And thanks to you too! It really is wonderful isn’t it? I never expected to find all this warmth and friendship when I started blogging. Horizons have widened and the world has become a smaller and more comfortable place at the same time. Quite amazing.
Bonne journee a toi
